Can every puncture be repaired?

No. Punctures in the central tread area can usually be repaired. Damage to the sidewall or the shoulder cannot be repaired safely, because those areas flex constantly as the tyre rotates. A hole larger than the repair limit, or internal damage from being driven flat, also means the tyre needs replacing.

Is a repaired tyre safe at highway speed?

A correctly repaired puncture in the tread area is a permanent repair and is safe for normal use, including highway speed. That relies on the tyre having been removed from the rim and inspected internally — an external plug pushed in without taking the tyre off does not allow the inside to be checked.

Will a repaired tyre pass a safety certificate?
